Singer and songwriter John Denver touched millions of people. He also achieved the status of a superstar by his folk-inspired pop hits most of which were based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a New Mexican born musician and singer who fell in love with Colorado. Denver's state anthems inspired people to travel to Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the curator of this hall of fame, said: "I don't believe there anyone else who has as much a connection to Colorado as John Denver." Denver was a member of the Hall of Fame as its initial member in the year 2011. Many consider Denver to be the symbol of Colorado. Through my travels, I've met people who are from New Zealand or the other side. If you inform them you're from Colorado the first words they say are"Oh John Denver. Brown declared. Denver's debut Top 10 hit as a solo artist following a brief time in folk music groups included Take Me Home Country Roads written by Bill Danoff. Danoff created the track along with Johnny Cash in mind but after Denver saw an early rendition immediately, he realized it was destined to be the next hit single. The singer recorded the song within a couple of days after performing it to an enthusiastic audience in Washington D.C.
